Karen Weihs, a Charleston, SC native, started showcasing her paintings in the family restaurants before establishing a gallery in Charleston in 1995. Over last ten years Karen has met and painted with many fine artists who have both encouraged and inspired her including Andrew Peters, Alan Campbell, Bill Jameson, Ann Templeton, Roberta Remy and others.  She credits the now deceased Franck Licciardi of Charleston for her vision and love of painting, and Andrew Peters of Arizona for teaching her proper color mixing. She is a self-described Colorist of the Carolinas. In Highlands, NC, her work may be seen at John Collette Gallery . She is also showing art at Premieres Gallery of Pawley’s Island, SC, Watson Gallery in Atlanta, GA, The Haen Gallery, Asheville, NC, Lava blue Gallery, Abingdon, VA.  Karen will also be participating in a two woman show at www.thehaengallery.com in April of 2008. Karen says, “The colors and spirit of Charleston make me feel alive and energized when arriving home, and the mountains inspire serenity to live and create.”
